Pick up free colorectal screening kits at pharmacies

 

28-Feb-2007: West Tennessee Cancer Center is offering free colorectal screening kits to the public through West Tennessee pharmacies.

They can be picked up March 1-16 from the following pharmacies:

Raines Pharmacy in Bells; Medical Arts Pharmacy in Bolivar; Quality Drug Co. in Brownsville; Vise's Discount Pharmacy in Decaturvile; Duncan's Pharmacy in Dyer; Quality Drug Co. in Friendship; City Drug Store and City Drug Xpress in Henderson; McLaren Pharmacists in Humboldt; and City Drug Co. in Huntingdon.

The six locations in Jackson are: Baker Drug Store, Eastwood Pharmacy, Healthcare Pharmacy, Super D Drugs on North and South Highland avenues, and Vantreese Discount Kenton Drug Co. in Kenton.

Other locations include: Jones Pharmacy, Lexington Discount Drug, Super D and Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Lexington; Medina Hometown Pharmacy in Medina; Jim's Discount Pharmacy and Super D Drugs No. 40 in Paris; City Drug Store, Fred's Pharmacy No. 7781, and Vise's Discount Pharmacy in Parsons; Hester Drug Co. in Rutherford; and Mitchell's Selmer Drug Co. and Rite Aide Pharmacy in Selmer.

Once the kit is completed, it must be mailed by March 30.

The at-home kits include easy-to-follow instructions and mail-back envelopes.

Once they are mailed, the kits are screened, and results of the screening are mailed back to the person.

"It is an easy and quick test that can be taken in the comfort of a person's home," said Gina Myracle, executive director of the Cancer Center.
